History
Visual Components was founded in 1999 by a team of simulation experts who saw the opportunity to bring simulation into the mainstream by developing a reusable concept for simulation models. Elektrobit Oyj, a listed company on the Finnish stock exchange, also saw the direct benefits 3D simulation could offer sales and delivery of automation lines and invested in the seed phase of the company’s development.
The original founding members included Scott Walter, Jerry Eshbaugh and Mika Anttila who were all on the development teams of Deneb’s Igrip, VNC and Quest products as well as Juha Renfors, the Deneb Nordic off-line programming expert and Craig Lybeck the head of sales and marketing from Deneb Australasia.
Visual Components initial product offering was a simple to use 3DVideo player that allowed users to see a production line in action on their own laptop. 3DVideo was soon joined by 3DRealize an easy to use sales tool to present new proposals quickly.
After working in the development and sales of Deneb Robotics (now Delmia) software through the 90s, the founders had gained valuable insight into the future of production simulation tools. Some fundamental requirements included robotics and material handling on the one platform and the use of real machine data in the form of virtual controllers or direct connections to the real control system for accurate behavior and results. With this in mind the software family was completed in 2004 with the release of 3DCreate a simulation development environment for developing new model libraries and applications.
Today Visual Components has a growing reseller network servicing diverse industrial markets and OEM partners in Europe, Australasia, Asia and North America.
